Invisalign Straightens Medfield Smiles
Dr. Hirshfield has been offering his patients Invisalign for 11 years now, and he is one of Invisalign's Preferred Providers. Invisalign is the virtually invisible way to straighten your teeth without braces, metal wires, or brackets.
The Invisalign treatment consists of a series of clear plastic aligners, created precisely to gently and gradually move your teeth into place. By using a series of clear removable aligners, Invisalign straightens your teeth right before your eyes. Change them about every two weeks, and your teeth will move - little by little, week by week - until they have moved to the final position that Dr. Hirshfield has prescribed for you. Using advanced 3-D Technology, we can predetermine your treatment plan, and show you the results you would achieve, even before you start your treatment.
Some of the benefits of the Invisalign system include:
- Virtually Invisible – Only you will know you're wearing braces.
- Completely Removable – Eat, drink, brush and floss, or take them out for special occasions.
- Faster Treatment Time – No fixed metal brackets or wires to adjust means you'll spend less time visiting the doctor. You will receive a new set of aligners every other week during your Invisalign treatment. A trip to our office will occur every 6 weeks on average to ensure that your treatment is going according to plan.
Is Invisalign for me?
Invisalign can be used to treat the vast majority of common problems for adults and teens. Whether your smile needs minor improvements or more extensive adjustments, Invisalign can certainly help. It's successful in treating overly crowded or widely spaced teeth. It can also relieve more complex issues, including overbites, underbites and even crossbites. In fact, Dr. Hirshfield can use Invisalign clear aligners in all or part of just about any treatment plan.
Invisalign in Medfield is a discreet solution to give you a healthy, straight smile without relying on noticeable brackets and wires. While you’re excited to invest in orthodontics, it’s normal to have a few concerns, but don’t let that deter your plans. Dr. Hirshfield will explain the process during your initial consultation. While you wait for your visit, here are the answers to a few of the most common questions he’s asked to help ease any apprehensions.
How many aligners will I need?
There isn’t any way to determine how many aligners you’ll need without first performing a thorough examination. Generally, complex cases will require more aligners. As a result, you can expect your treatment plan to take longer than a patient who only needs a few aligners for minor adjustments.
During your initial consultation, Dr. Hirshfield will take impressions and scans to map the movement of your teeth using state-of-the-art software. The information will be fabricated to your series of aligners. At this time, Dr. Hirshfield can tell you how long you can expect your treatment to take without experiencing any complications.
Does Invisalign hurt?
Invisalign works by wearing clear aligners over your teeth, which apply continual pressure to gradually move them into place. It’s normal for your mouth to be a bit tender after starting your treatment or when switching to a new aligner; however, you can manage your discomfort with an over-the-counter pain reliever.
How long will my treatment take?
The duration of your treatment is based on your specific plan, like the severity of your bite and alignment needs. On average, patients are finished with their aligners in 12-18 months; however, there are various factors that influence the duration. To ensure there aren’t timely delays added to your treatment plan, it’s essential you wear your aligners for at least 22 hours per day and switch to the next one in the series on time.
Will I need a retainer?
After finishing your series of aligners, you’ll need a retainer to prevent your teeth from moving back into their previous positions. Don’t worry, there are many discreet solutions to find the perfect retainer to meet your needs and your preferences.
Can I use my dental insurance?
Although every policy differs, most dental insurance policies that include orthodontia can be used to help lower your out-of-pocket cost. A member of our team will work on your behalf with your insurance carrier to file the necessary claim forms to reduce the amount you pay. We’ll explain how your benefits are being used and if you owe a remaining balance. Our office accepts several payment options to help you achieve a straight smile without breaking the bank.
What happens if I break an aligner?
If your aligner cracks or breaks, you’ll need to contact our office right away. If you’ve only just started wearing the aligner a couple of days ago, you may need to have it replaced. If it’s toward the end of the week, Dr. Hirshfield may just have you move on to the next aligner, but every case differs.
